| Ampho-Mag for Police and Fire
Departments |
The Police and Fire Departments are often first to arrive at
the scene of an accident where hazardous materials have been spilled or are leaking from
containers or vehicles.
| Ampho-Mag
allows these emergency personnel to take immediate control of many types of hazardous
spills, allowing for an increased margin of safety at the scene for emergency personnel,
accident victims and the environment. Ampho-Mag does two important things when applied,
it adsorbs the liquid so that it will not spread and potentially enter the environment or
come into contact with people. It also
neutralizes the liquid, reducing strong acids and bases to neutral pHs creating a much
safer situation |
 |
In these emergency situations, it is critical to:
keep the spilled material from contact with emergency
personnel, accident victims or bystanders.
keep the spilled material from entering the environment,
including drainage pipes, sewers, soil, streams and waterways.
react quickly.
Too often at the scene of an accident, sand is used which is
not an adsorbent or a neutralizer and simply covers the spilled liquid. A clay adsorbent is another material which is used
often with very little effect. Clay will not
neutralize potentially dangerous liquids and it is imperative in these circumstances to
reduce the danger faced by responders. Other
spill reagents that could be used demand that the material first be identified before
application. This takes critical time away
from implementing a solution. And the price to
pay for mistakes can be costly.
Ampho-Mag solves these concerns in a single
product. Its innovative amphoteric chemistry
makes it a universal neutralizer - it will effectively neutralize acids and bases bringing
spilled material to a neutral pH quickly and efficiently.
This results in:
a quicker response time no guessing at the identity
of the spilled material.
no misapplication Ampho-Mags ability to handle acids and bases makes
it the perfect solution in a crisis.
safely controlling spilled liquids and keeping them from
entering the environment.

In
addition, a pH indicator in
Ampho-Mag changes color based on the pH of the spill
- Red for acids and blue for bases. As Ampho-Mag neutralizes the spill, the color
will change to a green or yellow hue. This
allows the responder to identify the type of material spilled and assists to determine
that enough Ampho-Mag was used to neutralize the spill.
